“That guy doesn't know yet if there’s something he can't do”-Dan Harmon. Community and Rick and Morty writer Dan Harmon said this in regards to donald glover praising his creativness. Community, 30 rock, Atlanta,Childish gambino, are all works of Donald Glover. Donald Glover covers all sides of the creative spectrum weather it be in movies, stand up comedy, or music. He has done it all. Donald glover is one of the most influential creatives in history Donald started out in a household without any form of creativity. He would sneak watch the simpsons as a child sparking the first thoughts on comedy in his young mind. Later he would attend New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where he earned his degree. During his time there he and a group of friends would create Derrick comedy. A sketch youtube channel from the early 2000’s. After the Derrick comedy movie Tina Fey would hire him for his first big break as a writer for the NBC original 30 rock. After 30 rock Donald would go on to play Troy Barnes Community. During his time there he would make music under childish gambino. After leaving community he would continue making music and creating a show named Atlanta. I am not here to ramble a bout donald glovers life but the effect he had on me. Ever since i have seen him i had always seen myself in here. Im not one to bring race into things but i have never felt like i fit into the “Black kids” Yet i was to black for the “white kids” I was somewhere in there where i had no one like me. I saw myself in him. I used to hate it when someone would create the same award or achievement but add “african american” or “black” I still do. But this was different somehow. "too white for black kids but too black for white kids,"-Donald Glover. Camp and culdesac changed something in my heart. I gave me something i have yet to define. I normally dont say someone is my hero but right now he is. He is someone i feel like i can look up too. That white-black person aspect relates to me so much. I had always thought I was alone. I thought i didnt fit in I have still yet to find the group of people exactly like me, but i know their out there. Donald Glover Is who I look up to.
